Sometimes, like any good river, life changes course and speed. Sometimes things happen sooner than you thought which can create small chain reactions that reverberate into large scale life changes.
Just over a year ago I was planning major trips and trying to work to create a more sustainable long term travel calendar. I was living in a big city and working several jobs trying to get money saved away. This was my view and I wasn’t really that happy with the work/travel trade off. It was during that period that I realized it was time for a change.
I decided it was time to accelerate a dream I had for myself for the last 15 years. Now the travel is on HOLD (*as in definitely not done) and a whole new set of goals and dreams are taking the forefront. I will explain more on the process of changing gears in another post. For now I just wanted to bring you all up to speed as it has been a long while since I have drafted an update. So much has happened since I posted last.
ExpeditionAnderson has a new home base!
I bought 20 acres of beautiful Western Michigan land with a cool A-Frame style house that needed a lot of work. The house was in rough shape and I knew the second I signed for it that I was in for a long uphill battle. But I have always believed in the “If you want something bad enough, you have to be ready to roll up your sleeves and put in the hard work” mantra. Since closing on the house in January I have been doing just that. Today is exactly 2 months since I took keys and it has been a rollercoaster of happiness and sheer terror. There have been more major setbacks with this house than I ever even thought possible but I am not giving up. I can see the finished product and I know this is going to be great. It is still subfloors, open walls and a work in progress and I am hoping it will be livable in another month or so.
I will fill you in on all the work being done in several up coming posts. Oh and for all my friends that have subscribed to this blog for the travel and adventure part… don’t worry! I will be back at it as soon as humanly possible.
